Bruce Dees

I am Bruce Dees and I moved from Augusta, GA. to Nashville TN in 1977. Born in Clinton SC on March 7, 1949, Consumed with learning to play the guitar I taught myself to play spending several hours a day in my Grandmother’s front bedroom practicing. Moved to Augusta in 1966. In 1969 I got my first record deal with Epic Records which was recorded in Nashville. 1971 built an eight track studio in Augusta. Over the next 5-6 years our biggest clients were black gospel artists such as The Might Clouds Of Joy and Shirley and the legendary James Brown.

Moved to Nashville in 1977 after producing/arranging playing guitar and singing on 3 critically acclaimed albums by Larry Jon Wilson for Monument Records.

After moving to Nashville I have been fortunate to sing/play guitar engineer and write songs with some of the true icons in the recording business such as Elvis Presley, Ray Chanles, Ronnie Milsap (on 26 of his 40 number one records) Gladys Knight, Johnny Cash, Leon Russell, Willie Nelson, Jerry Lee Lewis, Chet Atkins, Barbara Mandrell, Bryan White, Vince Gill, Dorothy Moore, Jessie Winchester, Percy Sledge, Amy Grant, Randy Travis, Bill Medley (Righteous Brothers), Kenny Rogers, Wayne Newton , B.J. Thomas, Marty Robbins, Ian Tyson, Nicollet Larsen, Dobie Gray, Maurice Williams, Gary Morris, Glen Campbell, Paul Williams, James Galway, Crystal Gayle, Maceo Parker, Dave Loggins, David Kimbrough Jr., Howard Keel.

Played or sang on 50 + number one records. Won a BMI awards as a songwriter and Gospel Music awards and publisher for Gospel Music Song of the Year. For a number of years I headed the Nashville office a the commercial music production house based in Chicago, Com/Track. In that capacity wrote and produced numerous national commercials for numerous products such as McDonalds, United Airlines, Hostess products, Kellogg’s cereals American Airlines among others. Built my own home studio in 1986 and still work in my own facility as well as at the famed Studio 19, where I have my office (built by Scotty Moore, Elvis’s first guitarist on all the Sun Records and Ed Sullivan shows). I currently own 2 publishing companies, Gerry Bruce Music, ASCAP and Notkintorick Music BMI. I also have an independent record label, Offrow Records. I still play recording sessions as a guitarist and do vocals sessions as well.
